Introduction

In a world dominated by YouTube montage video games highlighting fast shooting skills of pre-pubescent, Overwatch offers a more considerable, tactical game. It was launched by Blizzard Entertainment in 2016, and it is compatible with Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows. It’s a team-based multiplayer video game that involves assessing and reacting from moment-to-moment: map layout, abilities, positioning, enemy position, character selection, and everything else.

General Impression

At first glance, Overwatch is a simple game of 2 teams of 6 vying for control of payloads, accumulate points, and occupy the best shooting positions. It comes in 4 modes which are easy to understand, but this perceived simplicity is deceiving. The game is an amorphous, shape-changing organism that means one thing to one person and another thing to the other, depending on the character you choose and the role you assign him. Simply put, the experience you will get playing this video game depends on the characters you choose.

The 21 heroes, both in terms of design and personality, compose one of the endless diverse and distinct casts in recent history. Their dialogue suggests a harmonious relationship among them while their design portrays a stark visual vocabulary. Furthermore, their abilities set the mood for multidimensional firefights with bursts of sonic energy, energy shields, and explosions. There is an enticing balance between knowing one character and trying a new one.

Graphics and Design

The developers did many things well, but one of the most notable is the built of the amazing characters. Moreover, it is refreshing that the primary menu is dominated by one of the characters at all times: their origins, personalities, and diverse appearances are showcased with every post they make.

Moving forward, there is a superb gorilla scientist, a supple, blue –skinned assassin, as well as a cybernetic, zen-practicing healer. These characters are so different such that you would think they would appear silly when standing together, but via careful, fine visual cues, attire, and equipment, they appear as if they come from the same side of the world.

Additionally, Overwatch’s 12 maps glow with sufficient details and they also play a major role in extracting more details out of the character’s tool sets. The map also shows different escape routes such as Route 66 which offers a high ground on both sides of the rivals’ route, setting a great ambush site. Every map is tied to a specific item, so their design is suited to the action.

Software/Developer

This is a multiplayer online first-player shooter game that was developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows.

Positive and Negative Impression

There is no argument that this is a masterfully developed game. The wide range of astonishing, unique characters, as well as the original ways they bond with one another, leads to a peerless team play adventure in the shooter space.

With that said, this video game has some problems such as hostility to solo players and dissatisfying progress system. This hinders your overall experience.

Conclusion

Overwatch is an amazing video game in multiple shooter designs. It weaves and bobs almost perfectly between being a strategic multiplayer and a quick-fix adrenaline hit you desire after a tiring day at work; an experience that makes your nights more enjoyable with friends.
